I remain uncertain whether whingers or whiners on their native heath
pronounce `whinge' & `whine' the same way.

I've never heard 'whinge' but only read it, & supposed that it rhymed
with `hinge'. (`Whine' rhymes with 'wine' -- in Missouri, the D.C.
area, & around Puget Sound. Or so I think, though my hearing is not
reliable.)
