APT::Cache-Limit 16777216 still needed?

How can one tell if I still need to set
APT::Cache-Limit 16777216;
for the current version of apt?
$ apt-config dump
doesn't say if the default value has been increased.
$ which apt-get|xargs strings -a|grep -i limit
doesn't help.
