Run the ssh client in verbose mode (up to 3 -v switches) to see if
you can find at least a hint to what is taking so long.
Some architectures benefit by installing an optimized version of
libssl. My Sparc box took more than 10 seconds to authenticate, with
a self-compiled version of ssl it's under 5 seconds.
