As others have said, "most" is what you want. To install and configure:

 
apt-get install most

  THEN (AS ROOT) DO THIS:

root@sonic:~# update-alternatives --config pager

There are 4 programs which provide `pager'.

  Selection    Command
-----------------------------------------------
      1        /bin/more
 +    2        /usr/bin/less
      3        /usr/bin/w3m
*     4        /usr/bin/most
