This sounds like you're looking for the testing distribution, aside
from that the cutoff is generally 10 days, promoted packages have no
more release-critical bugs than the packages they replace, and the
system tries to keep dependencies correct.  All of the usual caveats
apply, most notably that there are no security updates.
