It is more or less impossible to help you without further information.
Please take a look at your /var/log/XFree86.0.log and post the lines
beginning with (WW) or (EE).

There is however one thing you could try first because it is set by
default and often causes trouble: turn of the use of the kernel
framebuffer in X. If you configured your X-server with debconf, type
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and set it to no. Or edit your config
file by hand, go to the device section for your card and turn it off
manually.
