Obviously you haven't looked at the latest security issues in 2.4.X kernels.

BTW; the default 2.4.18-bf2.4 ate my ext3 disc soem hour after an
installation and about ~100 MB downloaded through a 56k modem (the bug
was fixed in 2.4.19).

Annoying.
