Just to be pedantic, it's not really the first line of the headers. It's actually envelope information, which may or may not (depending on the MTA and its configuration) appear in the message once it's been delivered. You don't necessarily have an mbox "From " line unless you're delivering to an mbox (and even then, it's not necessarily correct; for example, some fetchmail (mis?)configurations have been known to clobber it).
