Font problem - Helvetica either gone or ugly
Hi!
I have a recently installed 3.0 that was dist-upgraded to unstable, and
I run gnome 2. I have used Helvetica 10 as theme font for
gtk1.2-applications (set with gtk-theme-switch). After installation of
gsfonts-x11, this font became ugly and unreadable. After removal of this
package (gsfont-x11) Helvetica is reported by gtk-theme-switch to be
"not available", and when selected anyway extremely ugly. Still, in the
gtk2-applications, the same font works fine all the time....
Acrobat reader now cannot start without gsfonts-x11 installed.
I have read messages in these archive, and fond other messages
describing problems similar to mine. However, I cannot install suggested
package libgdkxft0, since apt then wants to remove all
gtk2-applications.
gdkxft-capplet does not solve the problem, gives the following error msg
when I select Helvetica:
The font "-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-14-*-*-*-p-*-iso10646-1,*"
does not support all the required character sets for the current locale
"sv_SE"
(Missing character set "ISO8859-1")
(Missing character set "ISO8859-1")
Any help would be much appreciated.
