Yes it is.

I'm working with debian from oktober 2002. first I was running Windows XP
with IIS, but I didn't like it. A friend of my told me to use linux. He
installed a server for me and I didn't understand what he was doing. After a
month and 3 installations of debian because I messed up the whole thing I
was able to install debian, and setup a web/ftp/proxy server but when there
are problems I still have to ask, but this is a very good list for support
:)

So give it a try.
