Which is why in my original e-mail I said:

"My father bought a new PC recently and it came with windows for not much

than the price of my own home built PC.  The only big advantage was that if
some thing went wrong with the hardware then he could just contact them and
get it sorted at no extra cost."

But in he case that the original poster 'really' don't want to buy a PC with
windows then one of the options available in the UK is to buy the bits and
build your own.
