Pristine "woody" system + journal fs, etc

Hello,

I would like to rebuild (from scratch) a "pristine" woody/stable system on my
laptop. I'm just looking at the packages in woody, and I'm wondering what my
best bets are as far as a journalling filesystem. I'm currently using xfs...
Is the 1.0.2+20020304 version of xfs (kernel-patch-xfs) in woody "safe"? Also,
how does it compare stability-wise with the reiserfs version that comes in the
stock 2.4.18-i686 kernel? I've "heard things" about reiserfs (esp w/ regard
to laptops) but I'd like to get some more concrete input. Basically, I'd like
to avoid using "third-party" stuff for the system core, at least for the
time being.

Thanks for any input.
