Ya, I know knoppix is not a really installed distro.
But I like their default configuration configuration
of various things like vim, cups, autofs, etc...
Install debian is not what takes the time, it is all
the configuration of required to get everything
working. But since I have access to serval fully
configured machines, I copy these configurations.

Personally I am a kde users, it seems faster and
better integrated; but I am open to gnome, better
natilus integration.

What about libranet admin tools?

I definately plan on installing kde 3.1,
smartmontools, BackupPC, Kuickshow, unison, Noatun and
kit. What other software should I install?

konqueor 3.1.1 has a bug that prevents me from loging
into some websites like nytimes.com. So mozilla or
opera 7.11b?

This new user currently has an other windows machine
which needs to be backed up.

I have a personally hacked firewall here. What
firewall package should I use?

cheers
