rythmbox hangs when run as non-root user

hey all,

i've had rhythmbox installed for the past few versions, and it used to
work, but now when i try to start it as a regular user, it hangs here:

i get no errors, and i can run it fine as root.

i'm using sid w/ 2.4.20.
