Thanks Seneca,turned out that I had already installed the first two.

I installed python2.2-gnome2. That left only Python2-gconf and 
Python2-canvas,which do not show anywhere in the Packages file in the Debian 
archives. They do exist as rpm's acording to google, and I can't get Gramps 
to compile without them. 

Tomorrow I will install Mandrake and build Gramps there.
