Old packages no longer necessary?
I was just browsing through the dselect listing today, and I noticed that
gcc-2.95 (I run unstable) is still installed. Since we are now at gcc-3.2 and
3.3 is on the way, is this package still necessary? Can I safely remove it?
Are there other packages that or no longer really necessary?
This also brings me to another question. My firewall/router box runs Woody,
and I compile a custom kernel for it. However it is a Pentium Pro 200 and it
takes damn near forever to compile a kernel on it. Can I safely build a kernel
package on my unstable machine (using a config file customized for the other
machine) with gcc-3.2 and then install that kernel on the machine running
Woody?
