For filtering mailing lists, though, there are faaaaaaaar better ways to go. Have a look at the full headers of a mail from the debian-user list ('h' in mutt, don't know about any others) and you'll see some lines like this: Resent-Message-ID: <WYiDaC.A.GaC.Bpmv-@murphy> Resent-From: debian-user@lists.debian.org X-Mailing-List: <debian-user@lists.debian.org> archive/latest/279000 X-Loop: debian-user@lists.debian.org List-Post: <mailto:debian-user@lists.debian.org> List-Help: <mailto:debian-user-request@lists.debian.org?subject=help> List-Subscribe: <mailto:debian-user-request@lists.debian.org?subject=subscribe> List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:debian-user-request@lists.debian.org?subject=unsubscribe> I filter on the X-Mailing-List: thusly: :0: * ^X-Mailing-List.*<debian-user@lists.debian.org> lists/debian/user/ -- Rob Weir <rweir@ertius.org> http://www.ertius.org/ GPG keys: 1024D/1E73B7CD, 4096R/3ABDE5EC | Do I look like I want a CC?
