man sed | lpr wont work ?

How can I print a man page from the command line ?
At present I have to boot into kde, Konqueror man:sed for example then 
print. This is OK but cumbersome.
I have tried man sed | lpr man sed > lpr etc

I know it can be done because I saw how to do it several months ago but 
I cant find the e-mail !
