Thanks for all the help on this issue.

I love Debian for its stability, and the zillions of
packages it comes with.

But I have a devil of a time setting it up after
install.  

I probably miss a few chances during install to set up
some things, and am still a bit used to RedHat
utilities and not Debian ones.  

I'll get there.
