Opening up www.cnn.com in Galeon (seems to be a typical page), top shows this information: PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 910 dasunt 17 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 19.9 30.5 0:33 galeon-bin 924 dasunt 15 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 0.0 30.5 0:00 galeon-bin 925 dasunt 15 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 0.0 30.5 0:00 galeon-bin 926 dasunt 15 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 0.0 30.5 0:00 galeon-bin 927 dasunt 15 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 0.0 30.5 0:00 galeon-bin 935 dasunt 15 10 23756 23M 15432 S N 0.0 30.5 0:00 galeon-bin 410 root 16 -10 15792 8744 1372 S < 8.0 11.2 1:28 XFree86 928 dasunt 9 0 4788 4788 1392 S 0.0 6.1 0:02 GrabWeather 794 dasunt 9 0 4524 4496 1260 S 0.0 5.7 0:11 mutt 529 dasunt 9 0 3364 3220 1476 S 0.0 4.1 0:05 w3m-en 464 dasunt 10 0 3964 3148 2652 S 0.3 4.0 0:03 gkrellm 787 dasunt 9 0 2664 2612 1284 S 0.0 3.3 0:02 w3m-en 879 dasunt 9 0 2440 2440 1272 S 0.0 3.1 0:02 editor 413 dasunt 9 0 2136 2004 1656 S 0.1 2.5 0:01 fluxbox If I can read top's output correctly, each galeon thread is using 8 megs of unique memory, and 16M of shared memory, bringing the total up to 56M. w3m runs at about 2-4M, which is a lot more lightweight, but doesn't work on all websites. But if you have 96M of memory, the main Galeon process isn't swapping that much, if at all. Galeon does like to access the HDD though, even if its not swapping, and I could see where that could present a problem on older, slow HDDs. However, unlike the parent poster, I tend to use one rxvt window, and screen. :) I believe I'm saving more memory then him that way. ~ Jesse Meyer -- ...crying "Tekeli-li!
