The hardware is a P166 laptop with 64 Mb.

I installed 2.4.18-bf2.4 and Reiserfs. If I log in, start X with fluxbox and
one Xterm, that accounts for ~56 Mb of memory.

If I'm to do any useful work I need to get that down. Two candidates are a
2.2 kernel and Xfree 3.3.6.
