That's CONFIG_IDEDISK_MULTI_MODE. It's found in "ATA/IDE/MFM/RLL support"
--> "IDE, ATA, and ATAPI Block Devices" --> "Use multi-mode by default".

But it doesn't apply here, because it works around a slightly different set
of error messages.
