Since you didn't state which version of Debian or which version of GNOME
or Nautilus you're using...

Under GNOME 2.2, there is a menu item called CD Properties in the
Preferences menu that controls this behavior.  Hopefully the menus are
the same on your system.

Under GNOME 1.4, I don't know.

I think GNOME on Red Hat also uses a tool called "magicdev" to perform
automatic mounting.  If you can't find a suitable preference, you might
like to look for magicdev and disable it.
