ibook installation

I am trying to install debian on my ibook.  The thing is the guide I
found does not make total since to me.  First of all the file root.bin
does not exist on the website it says it should
http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/woody/main/disks-powerpc/current/new-powermac/

and I do not know how to place the files it instructs me to in the root
partition "next to desktop only visable from MacOSX" I am trying to
install debian only, on this particular machine, and I do not currently
have OSX installed on it (its a long story)  irregaurdless I do not know
how to place the files in the right place.  By the way, when I burned
the debian iso for ppc (sarge) it is not recognizable by my system (is
that normal untill I get these files placed?)
