Thats a shame, its a standard debian sid installation.  There is certainly ntp 
traffic between workstation and server, ethereal shows it happening, and 
shows a message with the time difference in it.

Is there a chrony.conf parameter I need?

Can I use chronyc to see what variables chronyd is working with?
