what is the sympthom of "2.4.20 doesnt work" ??

make sure you config ( click the right options ) for..
	- your nic card
	- click the cpu ( k7 vs p3 vs p4 etc .. makes a big difference )
	- check for IDE chipset compared to your motherboard

- if you build all the drivers into 2.4.20..
	- you do NOT need initrd
	- unless you have / and/or /boot spans more than 1024 cylinders

( keep / at 64MB - 256MB and you dont need to wrorry about lots
( of stuff .. but do need to keep an eye on other things too
