System slows down when I'm online

Hi!
I' ve been looking around in several Debian- Forums but couldn't
find any help on the following Problem I have with my System:
Sometimes (seems randomly to me) when I use Webbrowsers like Mozilla
or Konqueror to browse Websites online the System slows down extremely,
the harddisk is working a lot, the Memory is filled very fast and the
x-server uses a lot of cpu load and gets so slow that I have to reboot.
I have no idea what causes this, because there is nothing in the logs. I
thought it's a Mozilla- Bug but it's also happening with Konqueror....
As I said *only* when I'm online. My System is a Athlon 2000+ with
256MB of RAM so I think there shouldn't be a problem with performance.
I use Woody with Kernel 2.4.20. It'd be really nice if someone who knows
the Problem could help me here,
thanks a lot,
Frank
