Things will Just Work(tm) then. This will work as long as you're the only user on your machine. This is a bad habit to form if you'll ever be using a multiuser box. It will still work, but it will also let anyone else who may be logged into the machine go nuts with your display. Remember, that not only means displaying windows, but also taking screen shots, playing with xmodmap, etc. That's just the beginning. xsniff anyone? (that's key logging, in any window on the display, for anyone that's not familiar.) Worse still, you're doing this just before typing in the root password. Bad mojo. Please, please, please, don't use xhost. Really.
