Gnome Problems

Hello List:

I recently started using Windows X and I am still getting used to it. When I log in I am loggin in with the session set to “Gnome”

Yesterday I was “playing” around trying to get to know the system and now two things are different and I want to change them back.

  1. Initially I was getting the default GNOME File manager, I don’t know what that is called, but it was a nice explorer-Like window which you could move around. Well now I am getting a different type of File Manager which I don’t like, I think that it is the KDE File manager (I am not completely sure about that though), and when I log into Gnome now I get this message saying that the file manager chosen is not completely supported by gnome and that I should select one that is. How do I do that??? Essentially I want to go back to the default File Manager that you get once you install Gnome.

  1. My keyboard is not responding. It has been working just perfect without a problem. This is what happens, I am at the log on screen and the keyboard works fine, I am able to type in my user name and password and I can log into Gnome. Once there I can open up a text editor and type without a problem. I close the text editor and then open up a Command line window and then I cant type nothing!, I go back to the text editor and now the keyboard doesn’t work. I then select to logout with the mouse and I am back at the log in screen where my keyboard now works fine again, I log back in and the same thing happens again. What happened to my keyboard and how can I fix it?

I’d really appreciate someone’s help with this, I realize that it may be something simple but I am still new to the O/S so your help would be a blessing, Thanx!
