Bug: install /etc/fstab order
I would like to report a bug and need help in determining how to format
it and where to send it. The website is helpful but I don't know the
right package and am following the recommended procedure.
I did an install and mounted /var/lib before mounting /var. I mounted
"/" first and then mounted everything else in device partition order.
The install package built my /etc/fstab mounts in the order I defined,
rather that the correct order.
I of course feel silly knowing what I know now but, as can be well
imagined, I was happy as a clam for several days of system building
before I realized my error and fixed it (learning many more lessons
about fuser, etc. along the way). My learning will be further enhanced
as I now move /var/cache and /var/log to their correct mount points (via
single user mode I am guessing. Arrgh!).
I would like to suggest that the /etc/fstab built during install be
sorted so that /var appears before /var/log, thereby avoiding similar
major system malfunctions between the chair and the keyboard.
I am not a member of the list but will check the archives in a day or
two to see the procedure, unless the maintainer is here and will take
care of it.
Thank you for helping me get this to the correct maintainer.
