I do not believe that this would work at all.

First, end-runs aren't very popular and if you don't succeed, you're cannon fodder.

Second, what makes you think that the "higher-ups" won't fall into the same rut of only seeing Windows?

My experience has been that even in the light of saving $10,000's they still stutter when you talk about not using Windows anymore.
