asus p4t-e - a coulpe of problems.

i'm having problems with no floppy disk detected
its a known problem with the motherboard but the 'fix' isn't fixing it.
motherboard: asus p4t-e
booting with grub
debian 3.0r1
what some research has dug up.
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=57253

and gnu/linux 2.4.18 already has the patch applied
i'm also having this problem on my work pc, but i've been able to mostly get
around it by making floppy disks with my co-workers pcs & rawrite for windows.
still don't know how to make a boot floppy image without a working floppy
drive.

when i shutdown the machine, it doesn't power itsself off. haven't looked
into this problem much yet though.
