It's great as a terminal multiplexor; being able to start a job and then detach and re-attach screen is awesome. Not only can you re-attach from elsewhere, but you can attach to a screen session from multiple places at the same time. I only wish the default control key was other than C-a; I use that for beginning-of-line all the time.
