I was in the same position about two years ago at my work; my boss and I
were trying to standardize on a Linux distro. He's a Sun guy, I was a
SuSE guy (Deutsch ist spass!), and most of the stuff laying around was
either Mandrake (which is what he had first grabbed) or SuSE (which is
what I was implementing).

Gave Debian a shot after getting pissed at per-file dependencies and
having a toasted RPM "registry". Boss liked the fact that the init
scripts were just like Solaris (e.g., same location, no cursing when you
had to switch gears between platforms), I liked the fact that the apt
system was near-magical.

Fast forward two years, everything Linux is Debian, we have an apt-cache
to keep from flooding http.us.debian.org, and the system just seems to
maintain itself. All my home boxen run Debian, too. As does my laptop.
I'll convert my roommate over sooner or later...
