  - no plugin required

   - use the MSN plugin
   - most popular

* Everybuddy
   - no extra plugins required AFAIK
   - supports file transfers

* Gabber
   - find a server supporting the MSN transport
   - most interoperable
   - <http://www.gabber.org>
