Oh, that's a problem.

Odd, also I just went to

   http://usa.asus.com/mb/socket478/p4b533/specification.htm

and didn't see the lan specified.  I think I saw on-board lan when I looked
at the card at a store.

Is there a specific MB model number you have?  e.g. something that
specifies what (lan, video, audio) is included?

Were you able to boot fine with the on-board IDE (without the IDE card)?

What are you running for video and audio?
