Yes, I've checked the system logs but have found nothing suspicious (at
least not to my eye). For instance, here's the AppleTalk stuff from
/var/log/syslog:

Nov 3 04:37:25 anima afpd[18644]: shutting down on signal 15
Nov 3 04:37:25 anima atalkd[18640]: done
Nov 3 04:37:27 anima atalkd[18710]: restart (1.5.5)
Nov 3 04:37:28 anima atalkd[18710]: zip_getnetinfo for eth0
Nov 3 04:37:47 anima last message repeated 2 times
Nov 3 04:37:57 anima atalkd[18710]: config for no router
Nov 3 04:37:58 anima atalkd[18710]: ready 0/0/0
Nov 3 04:38:10 anima papd[18722]: restart (1.5.5)
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: anima:AFPServer@* started on 65280.218:128 (1.5.5)
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: ASIP started on 192.169.1.1:548(2) (1.5.5)
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: loading (/usr/lib/netatalk/uams_clrtxt.so)
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: uams_clrtxt.so loaded
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: loading (/usr/lib/netatalk/uams_dhx.so)
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: uams_dhx.so loaded
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: "DHCAST128" available
Nov 3 04:38:16 anima afpd[18720]: uam: "Cleartxt Passwrd" available

That's what I get from doing /etc/init.d/netatalk restart. Attempting to
log in actually doesn't add anything to the logs.

Andrew.
