bootpd
Crazy unknown stuff occuring.
I'm trying to use bootpd to offer addresses to DUTs
When I use my server to offer up addresses using DHCP, everything works fine.
( I'm saying this to convince myself and you that there is nothing wrong with
my routes, 2 ethernet cards, or iptable filters)
But when I disable the DHCP server, and use Bootpd instead, I see the
requests coming in, and infact the server debug messages claim to be offering
up the replies but nothing even leaves the ethernet card.
bootpd: info(6): bootptab mtime: Tue Apr 2 13:47:59 2002
bootpd: info(6): reading "/etc/bootptab"
bootpd: info(6): read 2 entries (1 hosts) from "/etc/bootptab"
bootpd: info(6): recvd pkt from IP addr 0.0.0.0
bootpd: info(6): bootptab mtime: Tue Apr 2 13:47:59 2002
bootpd: info(6): request from Ethernet address 00:A0:D2:69:69:00
bootpd: info(6): found 172.30.4.20 (tb3)
bootpd: info(6): bootfile="/home/tftp/vmlinuz.xterm"
bootpd: info(6): vendor magic field is 99.130.83.99
bootpd: info(6): Received: DHCPDISCOVER
bootpd: info(6): Sent: DHCPOFFER
bootpd: info(6): sending reply (with RFC1048 options)
This repeats three times. But no reply is seen leaving the server
tcpdump -i eth1 -n
14:00:03.155335 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: xid:0xea254d24 flags:0x8000
[|bootp]
14:00:04.008563 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: xid:0xea254d24 flags:0x8000
[|bootp]
14:00:05.624822 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: xid:0xea254d24 flags:0x8000
[|bootp]
Everything works fine with DHCP so I can't believe it has to do with routes
(I have dumped the eth0 aswell and no replies go out there either.)
Any clues why I'm not actually seeing any bootp replies. ( I do actually want
bootp working)
Cheers
Shem
