Re: apt-get install -f fail, please help

Dear Andreas or any Linux debian users:

I did, and it at that gnome-libs-data seem install , but then I do apt-get upgrade

progeny:~#  apt-get upgrade
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
libgtk1.2: Depends: gconv-modules but it is not installable
locales: Depends: glibc2.2 but it is not installable
  ppp: Depends: libpam0g (>= 0.76) but 0.72-12 is installed
Depends: makedev (>= 2.3.1-56) but 2.3.1-50.0progeny1 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

then I tried
apt-get -f install

it generate alots of errors

ie. /var/cache/apt/archives/xbase-clients_4.2.1-3_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/xfree86-common_4.2.1-3_all.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/xlibs_4.2.1-3_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libgtk1.2_1.2.10-14_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libgnomeui32_1.4.2-8_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libgdk-pixbuf-gnome2_0.20.0-1_i386.deb
 /var/cache/apt/archives/libpng2_1.0.12-6_i386.deb
Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

sincere Eric

Try installing it with dpkg --force-bad-verify.
