My partition sizes are:

  /dev/hda3             1.9G  364M  1.5G  20%

  /dev/hda6              19G  2.6G   16G  15% 
  /dev/hda7              67G   18G   46G  28% 

So far, I have not experienced any problems.  I make use of ext3.
