Which is especially cool if you created an "old" (as the Debian installer 
 calls it) ext2-fs and later add the journal and thus convert it to ext3.
 Because that way you can still use 2.0-kernel - based tools like tomsrtbt 
 (<http://www.toms.net/rb/>) for, say, disaster recovery.

All my filesystems are "upgraded" ext2 for exactly that reason and I 
 have yet to regret that decision.
