Are you sure you connected it to the parallel port, and not the USB
port? Most of these print/copy/scan combos are USB, so you'll need the
appropriate usb tools. Once the connection is taken care of, rerun
magicfilterconfig and give it the new USB device path (usually something
like /dev/usb/lp0 or something like that -- you may need to run
/dev/MAKEDEV after you've got the usb modules running).
