Look for any suspicious settings in /etc/X11/app-defaults/PTerm (?)
Non-PC keyboards may be a problem too.
Apart from "man pterm", another way to find and try settings is:
open another term,
start "editres" from it,
select the "get tree" menu and click on a pterm,
select the pterm end leaf in the tree view,
select "show resource box" menu,
look for and modify some suitable resources.
Modifying the resources takes effect immediately.
