This is what worked for me:

Add to /etc/apt/sources.list
# Java from Blackdown
deb ftp://sunsite.dk/mirrors/java-linux/debian woody main non-free


then:
apt-get update

apt-get install j2se-common j2re1.3 j2sdk1.3
