You're going to need your kernel-headers (modversions.h is a header file).
Then you can do something like
make --sys-insclude=/directory/with/kernel/headers

It should be in the nvidia documentation somewhere.

You should be aware that using the module will taint your kerenel :(
Not that that's terribly important, but they ought to at least warn
you...
