Is there something wrong with my > installation? ahem, maybe i was to inprecise. in the /usr/share/j2sdk1.3/bin/ should be tools which match the pattern java*. this is for me the same like javaX (X stands for everything -- like a variable in math). so there should be programs like java, javac, javah, aso. sorry, that was my fault. cu
