I suggest you install the package cups and possibly gimp-print. Then
point your web-browser at http://localhost:631 and you can
graphically configure your printer (if it ask you name and password
give root and your root password). If you do not find your printer in
the list then go to http://www.linuxprinting.org to see if a driver
is available to your printer.
