1) Add ethernet NIC to computer
2) Connect ethernet NIC to cable modem via ethernet cable
3) Load appropriate driver module for ethernet NIC
4) Configure ethernet port to either grab IP address via DHCP or use the
static one your ISP gave you. If using DHCP, skip to (7); otherwise,
continue with (5).
5) Add appropriate lines to /etc/resolv.conf for nameserver(s) as
provided by ISP.
6) Setup default gateway as provided by ISP.
7) Done.
