TV-Out problem

Hi,

I'm using a composite cable to connect my PC (ATI Radeon 7000 graphics 
adapter) with the TV, because I don't want to use a monitor. I see the 
output on the TV but only in text mode. In WinXP I can use resolutions 
up to 1024x768 but I didn't get X working. I see a picture but the lines 
aren't arranged correctly.
I'm using Debian unstable with Kernel 2.4.18 and XFree86 4.2.

How do I set up X so that I a correct signal is sent to the TV. I tried 
different modelines but nothing works. I also installed the newest DRI 
driver.
