Greetings Robert:
Good question. Also, I know next to
nothing about USB, the only reason I made it work now is to see if that silly
cam would operate with mfd support under Linux. :) The box is about 1 year
old now. I picked up the cheap motherboard and AMD-1800xp online. The
chipset is via. Here is lspci -vvv:
00:11.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. UHCI USB (rev 1b) (prog-if 00
[UHCI])
Subsystem: Unknown device 0925:1234
Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr-
Stepping- SERR- FastB2B-
Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort-
<TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR-
Latency: 32, cache line size 08
Interrupt: pin D routed to IRQ 11
Region 4: I/O ports at dc00 [size=32]
Capabilities: [80] Power Management version 2
Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA
PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-)
Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME-
You would have to ask others on the list about pure usb during installs.
Seems to me I have read several stories about non-ps2 installs using a
specific boot kernel. The keyboard I use today is about 8 years old and I
don't know what I would do if I had to replace it!
